Grand Rapids Marathon

2010 Charities

Last year the Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon and its charity runners contributed over $100,000 to local, state, and national nonprofit organizations.

We believe in giving back to the community that has allowed us the opportunity to host this great event. Our focus on giving back is accomplished in three ways:

Charity Partners Program:

The Charity Partner's Program is designed to help local nonprofit organizations receive financial support through the Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon. We encourage nonprofit organizations to get creative with their fundraising efforts and use this event to raise as much money as possible. Whether it is through collecting pledges for runners, participating on a fundraising relay team, or getting your own corporate sponsors, the fundraising potential of each charity is directly related to the amount of work your organization puts in.

All charity partners will receive a link to their personalized fundraising page on the Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon website and will also be invited to have a booth or display at the Charity Village area on race day.

If your organization is interested in participating in this program, please complete the Charity Partners Application by July 1, 2010. Questions? Email: Matt Chapman

Charity Runners:

For some reason, a lot of runners are interested in raising money for charity. Maybe it's because people enjoy the challenge of setting a goal and accomplishing it. Maybe it's because people like helping others. But more than likely, it's because runners are just great people who want to give back to their communities.

If you are interested in running to raise funds for charity, please choose from one of our great charity partners below. You can also raise money for a charity of your choice, simply follow the instructions when you register for the marathon and you will receive more information about participating as a charity runner in the 2010 Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon

Charity Village:

All of our partner charities and charity runners are welcome to join us on race day in the charity village VIP area. Charity village features a separate gear check for charity runners and all charity partner organizations are encouraged to showcase their charity by setting up a display at one of our tables. Bring friends, family, food, and smiles. This is an area to celebrate your accomplishment and put your charity in the spotlight.

The Grand Rapids Marathon supports local charities with a strong community presence. Below is a list of organizations we are currently supporting. Please visit this site often, as we will be adding more organizations in the future:
